Ryan Newman wins Daytona

After all the hype by the media about how the Hendricks team was gonna smoke all of them they all faded away and Hoosier Ryan Newman driving the overlooked Dodge won on the last lap, with team mate the controversial Kurt Busch taking second.

I would have bet on Junior but not much money just because.

I listened to most of it on the car radio as we came back from my mom's house in Kalamazoo.

I am looking forward to watching some film of it since they are saying the cars are much more interesting to watch now that they are running the COT.

In films I saw of them running the busch clash and so forth, the cars looked unstable compared to the old style cars, with bouncing suspensions. I imagine the drivers don't like driving them much.

There was some good racing in the last 30 laps. Good luck and bad played it's usual part in the outcome.
Newman owes Busch a large favor.

seems like with the new car it's not the usual 2 freighttrains.they actually got spread out pretty good during the long greens.nice to see a dodge back in victory lane.there at the end i thought stewart and busch were gonna get into it again and take out half the field.

It was an entertaining race, the first few hundred laps went by real quickly.

In the end I thought my boy Biffle had a chance but he didn't have anyone to draft with once he got pushed outside and ended up 10th.

Considering all of the Hendricks and Gibb hype all week long I was kind of surprised the way the field played out.

I think Kurt Busch took more pleasure from pushing Newman past Stewart than he did finishing second. I wonder if he would have played the part of good teammate had it been someone else in the lead at that point?

They seemed to handle fairly well. The one thing I did notice is it does seem easier to break the rear end loose of the car ahead of them and duck inside.

The Mrs. and the youngest 3 watch movies in the playroom all day so my 10yoS and I could watch it in the living room in HD. I probably owe her now.

Kurt did seem to take particular pleasure in his role. I suspect that he and Ryan get along well.

I also imagine Roger Penske is good at instilling team discipline.

Not so much when Rusty Wallace was there, as everyone knew he and Newman did not get along. Made me like Newman that much more as I always thought Wallace was an arrogant jerk.
