I'm trying to build and sell a spec house.

Oh and I also need to change the coolant on the SDL this year.

Replace a 4x4 on my lanai, and then finish putting up new aluminum tracks and screen. I started last year, and have completed all but 3 sections. Once that is done, I can paint the floor (again).
I have a window that needs to be installed (been swapping out crank windows, with double paned vinyl, over the past few years).

And I think I am going to see about getting some hurricane panels for the windows. They sell something like a 4x8 sheet, that I can cut in half, and use for two windows - about $177 for a whole sheet. From what I hear, State Farm will cancel my wind insurance later in the summer, and I will have to probably get a policy from Citizens. No idea what kind of cost and coverage they have. Either way, I don't want to loose my windows, and have my crap strewn about the county.

Here's my list:
Design and build a small addition to the front of my house. The front door is at the foot of stairs to the upper level, and that causes traffic issues.
Re-roof the house.
Maintenance/ upgrades to my F250 Diesel before Camping season--replace some bad lifter, replace bad glow plugs, retorque the heads.
Maintenance to the 300SD--Brakes, Fix the paint issues--get the A/C functional

This doesn't seem like the optimum time for speculating in real estate unless things are much better up there than they are in most places, Hat.

Changing the coolant sounds good, though.

I'm tired of watching other people make money, I'm getting some of the action for myself. Besides I have a partner, the "training wheels" are on.:D

The market is always doing something, either way people will make money off it.

I just purchased the coolant today, $28 for 2 gallons of MB coolant! Damn it got expensive!

Dee8go 03-13-2008 01:09 PM

Maybe you're right. The best time to be buying is usually when everyone ellse is running for the doors. As long as you don't have to get your money back out of it in a hurry, you'll probably be fine.

Good luck.

I'm not going to buy anything. I'm going to build and sell it, I don't want to own it for any longer than I have to. 6 months max.

Then next year I'm going to build 2 houses...

I bought some pieces of an unfinshed pine shelving system from Ikea, that I need to put seal coat on. I am just waiting to buy some doors and a few more shelves before I do so, mostly so the finish will be more uniform...

I paid $14 for a gallon of MB coolant at the dealership about three years ago...doesn't seem the price has changed at all.

Hatterasguy 03-14-2008 12:48 PM

I could of sworn I paid $9-$10 but I might be wrong.
