Here are two contrasting articles

The first is an article from Havana about how the Cuban people are waking up and starting to complain LOUDLY about conditions inside Cuba.
The second is about the candy ban that went into effect in New Haven.

Looks like WE are the police state here...

Candy Ban

I love the fact that the kid selling the candy was acting secretive. I mean now we push candy into the underworld what is next the same kid selling booze or crack in school?

It wasn't in New Haven, it was in Brandford.

The school system is full of morons, and do rights.

I'm hoping for another Cuban revolution!:D

I would have expected them to make kids into criminals in Berkely, but in Ct?

I agree with you on the Cuban revolution. I want to be on the first flight from Key Wes to Havana once we are allowed back. I got a jones for Romeo y Julietas...

Hatterasguy 03-14-2008 01:18 PM

Nah we are just as bad, the only difference is that a lot of it never gets reported.

Now the school is screaming bloody murder, OMFG they are going to have to lay off half the teachers, and close at least one school....you know why? A "massive budget cut". They wanted $85M for 2008, they got $83M. Up from $81M last year. Yep that is a cut to them. Every time they don't get every penny they want they scream bloody murder.

Thank you.

Yep, the time off was useful....BUT...not even time in the MercedesShop gulag could put a dent on this ornery Cubano! :D

That's what I thought. Viva la BLGB! (probably got the gender screwed up on that, sorry).

Next time you go away I think I'll start selling T-shirts with your picture on the front and the caption "Ernesto". Whatcha think?

LaRondo 03-14-2008 03:51 PM

I think we're now restricted again to use the term "revolution".

LUVMB, that ban is actually state-wide here. Our politicians know better than we do. No more cupcakes or donut holes for birthday mini-celebrations either and all soda machines have been removed. My two oldest kids are wiry, over active dynamos who could frankly use a little fat on their bones (even though they amaze me with how much they eat). I really want to send them into school with Coke, Doritos and a Snickers for snack but the wife won't let me.

Oh, and welcome back Ernesto!

It's been in Texas schools for the second year now. Imagine if that sort of ban permeated our workplaces?!!!
