I was watching one of those nightly news shows, nightline or 20/20 or something I can't remember which one. But they were explaining how the mortgage crisis happened.
They were saying that the mortgage business got so competitive that they were offering no money down loans. And even putting in writing they wouldn't come after you if you forclose. They had a word for that but I can't remember what it is.
So what you have is people in houses they can't afford, with very little of their own money involved. They get upside down in their payments and they just walk away.
Then guess who pays for it?
The sad thing is their are people out there who genuinely tried hard to make their dream work. I still don't feel sorry for them but their not as bad as some of the crooks out there.
