Taking a new liking to the newer M-B styles!
The current S-class is really growing on me. I dig the taillights, but I think its the overall body that I've come to like since it reminds me of the W140 S-class in the sense that it has road presence and is commanding and opulent in that subtle way. I never did really like the previous generation S-class. Ugh, I can no longer keep track of chassis number. I pretty stopped paying much attention to M-B sometimes after 2000 with the new E-class that replaced the venerable W124. I'm also digging the new C-class, even the new M-class, looks bigger and more masculine for some reason. The new, current E-class is bringing back the big grille and if I'm not mistaken also the pointed/angled bumper. My all-time fav M-B still has to be the '94-'95 W124, which I still like very much and still consider owning. Also, the new SL is groiwing on me, the one that replaced the R129, which I still like very much and still dream of owning! But the new SLK--what the heck is that montrosity? I like the first generation much better, but not that I would own one. Too much of a chick car. My sister has one. Lately I've been noticing a lot of the minivan M-B. Is that the R-class? Ugh, that is no Mercedes, if you ask me. I think M-B should have just stuck with wagons. Maybe I'm a M-B snob. But then again, I've really no clue about the newer M-B, due to a lack of interest...but now noticing all these new models is beginning to tickle my fancy again. Oh, I should add that these stupid M-B car commercials are annoying, first with the ads that say "things aren't the way they seem" or something like that and now with the "why" adds. Just annoying!
On a side note, here's a pic of my car. Guess what model it is. Shouldn't be hard! |

The new ones are really nice. The currant W221 S class has more in commen quality wise with a W140 than the W220. I don't really like the W220 either, I hate the dash and don't feel it offers as much of a presence. A $100k should look like a $100k just in an understated way. IMHO the W220 falls short.
The W221 is a wonderfull car, I look forward to owning one someday. The new C is a wonderfull car as well, the interior quality is way, way up and it looks nice and modern yet you can still see the DNA of the old cars lingering on. The new E is a fantastic car, IMHO the best E class I have ever driven. The SL is always fantastic, I don't think they have ever built a bad one. Your car looks like a W201 from the rear body line, the front looks much more modern.

I'm starting to dig the new 4-door S Class too. But the frontal view looks as if it's angry. As the C Class has the same angry frontal look. I dig the E Class, but have no need to buy one. Heck, my E is just 9-years into it's projected 15 to 20 year ownership scope with me. As for the C Class, I don't get what the attraction is.......get a 3-Series BMW, if you want performance. And, the SL Class.......very nice.........wish they offered a nice twin-turbo V-8 diesel in it. And the RL Class? I don't get it, any more than I get the M Class, and the G Class. SUVs are the Jeep, with me, not an expensive German one.
