Actually, Raul probably read the study that concluded that cell phone usage is more dangerous than asbestos or cigarette smoking...that is one way to get rid of the opposition.

Boy, you are one TOUGH cookie, Ernesto!

Mistress 03-31-2008 02:13 PM

Oye, this is a tiny glimmer of hope.

I think exposure to capitalism would totally undermine the government of Cuba. We should just lift our embargo completely. Give those poor Cubans a taste of what life COULD be, and the Communists would have to leave town.

LUVMBDiesels 03-31-2008 03:34 PM

Can you say Perestroika? No really, can you say it?

It looks like "Little Brother" is doing what Gorbachov did to keep his @ss on the throne. It did not work for Gorby and it won't work for CastroII

I just wonder what will replace him.

Yes, unlike in the US, when wiretapping/spying on wired and cell phone users never happens . . . ;)

Don't even go there....you cannot compare our government with Kastro's hell.

In Kastro's hell you would be rotting in prison by now for posting one tneth of the things you have posted here.

Incidentally, I heard that Cuban political prisoners are begging to go to Gitmo and replace the jihadistas being held there. You know what Cuban political prisoners call the Gitmo priSons?

The FOUR SEASONS HOTEL!!!

Tom, there is no embargo. The embargo is an illusion. Every European country and every Asian country trades with Cuba. Even subsidiaries of American companies trade with Cuba.

Do you know where the cell phones that they are planning to sell come from?

South Korea.

The only effect that lifting the embargo would have is to get rid of the "embargo" excuse. But the castro brothers, who are very inventive, will find other ways to blame the Yanquis for the shortcomings of their regime.

I was thinking of the embargo of the US against Cuba. Once there was free trade between the two countries, nobody would want anything to do with Communism.

I realize that the Cuban emigres in this country feel differently about this. This how it seems to me, though.

Someday, Major League Baseball will have a franchise in Havana.

No me tomes el pelo.

Todo es lo mismo. Raul es absolutamente igual a Fidel

Raul no vale nada, a mi no me gusta:mad:.

Actually Tom, cubans in the USA arenot a monolithic group. They could end the so-called embargo today and it would not bother me in the least bit.

I just like to clarify the fact that there is no embargo.

Asi mismo!!!

How was the GTG? I am sorry I missed it. :(

Dee8go 03-31-2008 09:04 PM

Sorry, I prefer to lump everyone into monolithic categories in order to better facilitate my preconceived notions and prejudices . . . .

Ha ha ha. I know that. I was just generalizing based upon what I have heard and seen in the news, etc. I do understand the families who lost everything they owned when Castro nationalized their businesses have long memories and hope to one day have their property restored. I hope so, too. I have a feeling that the average Cuban would benefit from such a move, too.
