If you are looking for a physical display...
http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g44/c133/s456/list/p1/DIY_Modders_Dream-PC_Tools-Thermometers-Page1.html I actually use one in my music studio to monitor heat sink temps on my amp rack. Many of them have alarms that you can preset to a set temp limit. |
Speedfan...

I seriously.. need to get a new computer.. but I dont have the money... damn car... |
75C is not good eh?
I'll let it run at idle and get an average for 30 minutes..... this cooling pad is not working at all... time to find the receipt...yarrr cant find |
Motherboard Monitor 5 (MBM5), speedfan, hmonitor, etc. They're out there. I happen to like motherboard monitor 5, but it takes a little bit of know-how to set up.
75C is way too high for my tastes. My desktop runs low 30's idle, and at most 37-38C full load. Graphics cards can be higher, but they're designed to take a little more heat. |
Is it a laptop Don? They tend to overheat like crazy as they age because they collect all sorts of dirt and dust inside which clogs up the fan and heatsink. There are sometimes places where you can stick a can of compressed air and blow out the dust but on some models there isn't an easy way except to start taking it apart.

i hate laptops.....
heh its at 62C with a dictionary and plastic case of pushpins holding it 2" off the desk... what... a ..... joke |
I love laptops, LOL.
Build yourself a damn computer.... Its cheap, and hella easy to do! I have tons of spare computer stuff laying around... If one asks nice enough, I can box some of it up and make it a gift... |
Open it up and clean it out, and if possible, get some Arctic Silver 5 and re-do the heatsink material. On a laptop I had it made the difference from the fan running often, to almost never...due to such better heat transfer.
75C...amazing its still running. That will lead the CPU to an early grave, as well as any components around it on the Mobo.... My desktop doesn't break much over 40C even under heavy load. Around 34C at idle. Athlon64 3400+ overclocked about 15% |
I was away for 2 hours and it averaged 65C...
I've had this laptop for like 4 years. I've ran a lot of graphic intensive programs and programs like Solidworks that are total memory hogs without an issue. But playing WoW it just dumps me. If anyone can educate me how to open up a Sony Viao PCG K23 I will do it. Where to get arctic silver 5? While I'm in there.. lol |
You can buy AS5 at any big computer store.
