Classic Car insurance

Anyone familiar with Heacock Insurance? I had never heard of it, saw an ad in a magazine.

Most of them are similar.

The insurance is cheap as dirt.

But, you cannot drive the vehicle to any destination other than an auto show. You can't drive it to the grocery store, your friend's house, on a vacation, etc.

You can drive it for pleasure.........but, apparently, you had better not stop at anything that can be construed as a "destination".

You can drive a truck through the holes in such a policy. Pray that you never need coverage from it.

Thats the story I got from Hagertys a while back. Driving to work even occasionally would be a bad thing. This outfit claims "pleasure use encouraged". I was hoping this might be different. I have classic cars, but not show cars, i like to drive them.

I have a antique auto insurance policy with J.C. Taylor and I have had no issues with the insurance on my antique car and motorcycle.

Q. How can I use my vehicle?
A. The vehicle should be used primarily for hobby events such as shows, club functions, tours, and parades. An occasional nice day drive is also acceptable. The vehicle should not be used for errands or a commute to school or work.

There is no mileage restriction on my policy. Basically, the cost of the coverage is based on the owner's declared value of the automobile.

I used to have one of the specialty policies, but now I have it as an attachmetn to my state farm policy. Its about the same cost.

I used to have JC Taylor. Also try American Classic Insurance. One of them has no mileage limit. Look at hemmings.com as they run a big ad each month.

I would never get one because you can't take the car anywhere. What happens if it gets nailed in the office parking lot? The insurance company is going to be like your SOL.
