I agree that ABs are GREAT dogs. I will offer a couple of warnings about them. Some back yard breeders are breeding them with Pitt Bull Terriers and calling them American Bulldogs. ABs are also often grouped in as a Pitt Bull type breed by many insurance companies. Although ABs do acclimate well to heat, do not expect any real work out of them in a hot and humid environment. No short muzzled breed can go long in the heat without really having a hard time. Finally, ABs are prone to CCL injury just as Rotties and other similiar bodied breeds are.
