A "why bother?" economy has been created in Britain which has left thousands with no motivation to work, a report published today concludes.

Ha! The British again. Shame on them.
In reality they are no exemption to the European rule of backfiring welfare systems. Germany is just like it and Sweden is suposedly the top of the line, when I comes to welfare benefit payouts. Fact of the matter: If you're not a single mother of at least 3, with no income from child support or else, it's hard to make ends meet on welfare alone. Which brings us to point where most of those who claim continued welfare support, somehow generate income in the good old "under the table" fashion, undetected by authorities. I've seen it. What's even more annoying, is the fact, that most of those with such "double income" lifestyles are people and entire families, who migrated to the welfare states at one point or another.

To get somebody working, you need the carrot and stick. You take away the stick and give the carrot, how do you motivate? Why would anyone be surprised that this happens?

Take away welfare, when they get hungry they will work.
Hunger will fix that "why bother" attitude real fast.
