Mississippi just can't keep first place anymore

Mississippi just cant keep the first place edge anymore. Bad enough last year loosing both most obese and lowest in education to Louisiana then first in diabetes to Alabama now Wisconsin has bumped us to #2 with most drunk drivers. We are loosing our competitive edge

Heck we even came in second in Miss America - just a second class place anymore.

you still got Trent lot and Dickie scruggs. plus you got us paying for your flood insurance, so you can live on the ocean and not pay based on the risk.

You know Trent is retired and Dickie is going to the Fed. Penn, right? And you also didn't read the 5th Circuit Opinion reversing Judge Senter that came out three weeks ago, didja? And you do know that the Feds have controlled and sold flood insurance in all 50 states for years, right?

That's alright though, cause what I got you paying for is dredging in front of my house in Virginia to replenish the beach. To the tune of $25M.

Its actually opening a shoaled channel per the Coast Guard (and maybe a little private lobbying). I just get the benefit of the dredging--they certainly wouldn't do it to replenish a beach, in that that form of erosion control has been out of vogue for years now. There's a .gov .pdf online about it: Queen's Creek/Piankatank River Dredge project. Been funded for about six years and just pulling the trigger now. Damn breeding ass tiger beetles

Down in North Carolina a lot of the dredging of the inlets where there are ports is the cause of beach erosion along the ocean front. We have a house down near Morehead and we have sand pumped back on to the beach all the time to try and rebuild the dunes that are washing away. Alas, it's just part of the price one pays to maintain property there.

I'm okay with using dredge spoil. It's that pointless shifting of sand that the Corps has done from Virginia Beach to Miami to Galveston that rocks my boat.
