MB cars omitted from Walmart's filter catalog?
I visited Walmart the other day to stock up on some oil. I thought I'd have a look see if they had an oil filter for my son's '88 300E, so I opened up the filter catalog, and hmmmm. No MB cars at all for any type of filter. They have some obscure cars in there, like Loti, Morgan, etc. so that can't be it.
I wonder if there is some form of blacklisting going on? I know that many MB's have the oil filter elements, as opposed to the whole metal can type filter, but hey, they still have normal air filters and such, right? Rgds, Chris W. |

Probably because MB filters are more expansive than the little $3 cans that most cars use.
Walmart prides itself on efficiency so considering the low volume and higher costs I'm not surprised.

Wal-mart would need to get a chinese mfg. to knock-off the original OEM stuff. And as you know by reading this forum, 99% of us wouldn't use a cheap knock-off regardless of price.

I picked up the filter for my E300 Turbodiesel last week for my guy b/c i had to be at the dealer anyway, and noticed on my account that the price for that thing had risen from $12 and change to $15 and change since last year. My service invoice had the same price (which is a rounded up price) for Mobil 1 synthetic as last year.
I find that a little odd. |
