...and windows also! When we had the house in St Croix we used vodka for window cleaner. Bottled water was not the rage yet (80's) and expensive on the island and vodka was cheap. Yes water was a valuable commodity on the island.

What's the attraction about vodka?

Good vodka, one that's been distilled at least 3, 4, or even in some cases 5 times and then filtered, has had almost all the distillation pollutants removed from it and is almost pure ethanol.

In most other kinds of hard alcohol these poisons are left in for the sake of taste. They are called congeners and fusel oils. These are for the most part, what is responsible for your hangover the next day.

Most people notice that there is almost no hangover associated with vodka, unless you really overdue it.

I heard Vodka and most white liquors (rum, gin etc) make people mean after they drink them.

I heard that about brown liquors. I think alcohol just brings to the surface whatever is already there.

You can by it pre-fab from Budweiser, I saw it in our local packy. Sounds yucky!

A former employee turned me on to spicy V8 & Bud combined. It was pretty good once in a while.
I prefer a nice stiff Bloody Mary, Naw'lins style with plenty of horseradish & cayenne sauce.

I don't like to pay a lot for my clear, tasteless alcoholic spirits. I also hate supporting the French, so this is my vodka of choice. 23 bucks for a liter, Polish Potato vodka, one of oldest in constant production. Means "Luxury Vodka"

Try it, great overall. IMO beats Ketel One (And what do those windmill loving, wooden shoe wearing, tulip pickers know about a POLISH spirit?

Where do you get that? I have never seen that anywhere.

I'm always game to try new vodka. I feel like I should be walking around with the bottle and swearing in Russian after a bit.

Some old timers use cheap vodka to winterize the freshwater systems on their boats. Considering what the pink crap costs these days its not such a bad option!
