engine stands
I'm looking into engine stands for a project I want to do. I am looking on CL for a deal but am wondering how I gauge if one will work with, lets say a mercedes diesel. OM61x and OM60X series.
Worse comes to worse I go to harbor freight. |
What is the weight of such an engine? That's going to play a factor in your selection.
A 617 weighs about the same as the M117 V8.....
Find one that supports a Chebby 350 and your gravy. |
Get one with 4 wheels. The ones with three wheels tend to tip over.

Why don't you do what every other cracker in florida does and use a swing set and a piece of logging chain?
I live in a sub division :).. Plus, what you are referring to is an engine hoist.
Yeah, I guess I can see how it would be difficult to work on it while it was suspended like that:D

I think I'll hunt for a good used one if I go with my project.
They have them 1/2 price on E-bay.
I found one like it.. $40 about 30 miles away... I'll look into getting one soon or w/e
Northern has them.
Harbor Freight has them that are as good as any as long as you are not making your living off them.

I got a good one (lucked out) on Craigslist that has two legs sticking out from the center support at about an 80 degree angle on each side, in addition to the back leg of course -- 4 wheels total. Very stable. |
I remember when I lasted looked into one Northern had a stand for like $40. This was for a 289 I was planning on restoring a Mustang. Yes before I ever got into MB's I was going to restore a sweet 1970 Mustang.
