When will Mistress solo...?

We're all pulling for you... Wear an old shirt that you don't mind having the back cut out of...

Check the weather, place your bets, she only flys on Sundays.

Depends upon the weather and the mechanical condition of their planes. So far neither is being very cooperative. I'm betting it's in June. I HOPE it's in June.

With only one day a week to fly the weather makes it a crap shoot. Apparently they don't maintain these planes very well either. Last week two different planes crapped out on her. On the ground, fortunately.

Unfortunately this is true. I almost came really close to throwing in the towel asking for the rest of my money back and going someplace else.

I was already to go after ground school, and the instructor tells me the plane I have scheduled is out for mechanical, no problem we can take the brand new Alarus low-wing, nope the starter crapped out on that one too. Then a student finishes and if I want we can go in that plane (this one has had problems with the front struts). Well we are taxing out, winds are picking up just a tad and I look at the instructor and tell him WE ARE GOING- you call and file the ADIZ flight plan, I check the plane. Taxing out to the run way, I turn left and all of a sudden there a sh*& load of either H20 or gas leaking out of the wing (and no its not from the run-off spout). I look at Patrick and he looks at me and I said "Ah, maybe I'm not suppose to fly today.

I'm really frustrated....

Frustrated ?!?! What you should be, is looking for a new flight school.

If you’re not 100% comfortable with the aircraft provided, then find someone else to provide the aircraft !!

From day one of this venture of yours, we’ve given you plenty of advice. But none so serious as this.

“I almost came really close to throwing in the towel asking for the rest of my money back and going someplace else.”, you say ???
Well listen up good, girl. This is not an issue or feeling that you can look back on and say “I wish I had done just that.” By then, it’s too late.

And you can love the instructor you have all the way to the ground as well. So don’t sell yourself any crap about “but he’s a great instructor”, etc.

If you are not 100% comfortable with the aircraft you are flying. Move on. NOW!!

It may cost you a bit more in the big picture to get caught up with a new instructor someplace else. But, look at the other possible “cost you” here.

Your stories are not of major life threatening aircraft issues. But they are the big red flags of what’s quite possible there.
Trust me. I’ve seen plenty of this type of thing turn into great tragedy. Plenty.

BTW - “WE ARE GOING” If you were comfortable, fine. But, please don’t forget #1 rule: Take-offs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

I don't mean to sound like your dad here. But I've spent enough time looking into his eyes to feel that he'd agree with all this. And I think you know that as well.

Thank you- I just faxed them a letter asking for my money back. Lucky for me the accountant is in today.

Thanks everyone for your support with this endeavor, there is another flying school in Manassas i can check out.
