Diesel fuel: excellent electronics cleaner

Oh man, discovered this by accident -- still amazes me.

A few years back, I bought an aftermarket keyless entry setup for my '87 325i Beemer. It has an electronic system to lock all the doors and trunk already, just no keyless setup. The door locks tended to bend my key over time so I really like the keyless deal, which worked really well for about 6 months. Then it started getting sporadic. I changed the battery which only helped for a while. I'd check the battery voltage and it was still good.

Oh well, it was a bummer, but not the end of the world. Then one day, I was changing a fuel line fitting on my 300SD -- I have a little light on my keychain, one of those LEDs with a couple of hearing aid batteries, I had used it and my key-chain was on the ground when a bunch of diesel spilled on it. I'm thinking 'crap,' I cleaned it off and whattayaknow, the keyless entry thing worked like new!

Worked great for a long time. A few months ago, it started acting up again so I took it apart and sprayed it with the electronic spray cleaner stuff, figuring that would work even better. It sorta did but not that well. Last night I said F*** it and soaked the thing with diesel. Works just fine.

?!??!

Now just package some bio diesel in an aerosol can and call it "Green" electronic cleaner.
