Wheeeeoooo !!!!! 25mpg

I made a concentrated effort today to see what the TE would actually do on mileage. I filled it up, went for an 85 mile jaunt, that was 75% highway, and the rest stop and go secondary roads. I refilled it again at the same pump and after 86 miles it took 3.4 gallons of your premium unleaded. Works out to 25.29 MPG. I am very happy with that, for that sized vehicle and how old it is. I guess I won't be buying that Honda after all. I would hope that on a trip at 60 to 65 MPH, I should approach 28MPG.

My friend drove the S600 up with me to the meet on Saturday...filled up on the way a back, over 110 or so miles 18mpg. Not bad for a 6L V12 that was umm driven in a spirited maner.

My diesel was probably only getting 5-6 more than that at the same speeds.

The 280TE that was following us couldn't keep up...

That sounds like our meets... Thing is the oldest guys there in their SECs drive like the youngest guys.... You wouldn't know they were as old as they are the way they drive...

The 240Ds were the ones having trouble keeping up.

Yeah the more mature 500E guys were having a bit of fun, actualy I think Jim got pulled over.

My friend used to have a girlfriend that lived up Rt8 so he drove it like a million times and knows where the cops sit. I ran the SDL 90-105ish quite a bit, the S600 was usualy in the lead. Man that thing is a monster from 80-120. You can cover a lot of miles at 100...

You can really feel the diesels lack of power over 80, more so with the AC on.

NFW could a 240D keep up with us.

Hattie, you best watch your step. Connecticut cops are mean, especially if the vehicle has NY Plates, this is something many New Yorkers seem to say. I went to a prospective student weekend at Connecticut College. The group of us prospectives met in Manhattan and boarded a chartered bus to CT. For some reason the kids from Dalton started talking about uptight cops in CT. Anyway we left the City and the minute we crossed into CT a cop stopped the bus and gave the driver a ticket. The cop took forever, everyone on the bus kept looking back at the cop to see what was taking so long.

If I step on the gas in The Dee8gonator, I watch that "Economy" needle peg out, and see the gas needle start moving towards empty. I have no idea what the actual mileage is. I guess I should find out, though.

On my 1993 300E (3.2) "E320", on two separate trips to Las Vegas with nearly 100% freeway driving, the best I could do was 26 mpg, with average speeds around 80 mph.

Yeah Paul,,,, lowering the speed seems to have a big effect on MPG.

My wife has a BMW 328i, straight 6 and I was pleasantly surprised that between city and hwy driving, it averaged 22 mpg.

That's not bad considering we do 80 on the hwy most o the time.

Great car so far.
