Interesting article about YouTube...

I knew it, once Google bought it, it was going commercial.

Kadokawa Group Holdings and Google's YouTube video-sharing service will launch a program that places advertisement around user-generated videos with Kadokawa's copyrighted materials in June. In the past, Kadokawa and other companies have manually scoured YouTube's videos for copyright-infringing material (or used YouTube's new automated identification system), and removed them from the public viewing. Under the new system, Kadokawa will decide if some user-generated content with its materials can stay on YouTube with its permission. If such a video is approved, Kadokawa and YouTube will share ad profits with the user who posted the video. This arrangement is the first such plan in Japan, and there is the possibility that it will expand to other companies.

According to the Nikkei news source, the strategy will legitimize user-generated content and publicize Kadokawa's original works worldwide. The plan capitalizes on the phenomenon of MAD movies — the recently coined Japanese term for user-generated content that incorporates pre-existing audio, images, video, or animation. Kadokawa already launched its own Kadokawa Anime Channel in February with entire anime series, and discussed the ways it will work with YouTube in March.

But this is interesting, now they are going to pay people if they put good videos up. Somehow I get the feeling that this is the first of many companies who will do this. Its like viral marketing.

My theory is that internet media will eventualy replace regular. I think advertising and making money off it is the first step.

This also has the potential to legitmize what was up until now fan made crap.

Youtube is NOW.

I will say this; I have been told there is practically a whole generation of teenagers that spend all day watching Youtube instead of television. "Youtubing". I do it a lot myself and I am not young either.

The future has arrived, and it's Youtube. Not surprising that someone figured out how to get rich off it.

Commercial TV is garbage anyway, it has not changed for 50 years, still showing people laughing at crap that is not funny, ads with people holding up a can of motor oil next to their face.

It has finally, thankfully, become utterly irrelevant. Just like AM radio.

Well I for one have been watching much less of the History Channel because I can get my WW2 fix off this guys YouTube channel:

Reality TV also ruins it for me, I can watch retards mess up in real life so why would I pay to do so and sit through commercials?

You gotta Watch the BBC. I get it at my house, and their shows are awesome.

You like Jeremy Clarkson, right?

Some of their History shows are narrated by him. I have a few of his movies about big British fight. Best part is, NO COMMERCIALS!
