You need a nice five-year-old Honda Civic.

I just signed on and thumbed through the unread threads.

Figured I’d come back to this one and tell TheDon he either needed a full time job, or a Honda Civic.

Guess you beat me to half of it.

I agree.

I did find a civic on CL for $800... One owner but according to the post " a hose broke" ... But, If Its still on the market I'll so snap it up today, I'll call into work if I have to... damn, now I wish I didn't open a frign savings account.. lol

I love the Mercedes, but not filling it.

but you make money with the planes.

that vectrix thing is cool. I just like 4 wheels

Even if this one is not on the market anymore (It would be nice, it's probably the last non riced out civics on the planet!), I do want a more efficient car with OBDII

Check this out ... more than $800, but looks good, fuel efficient and is OBDII compliant

neat... I would like a civic with OBDII ( for a scanguageII). Plus, civics are bullet proof

but I'll leave my options open. I do need something more efficient, I won't leave the forum, I can get storage insurance on my benz so if a tree falls on it, its covered.

Those of limited means should not own luxury cars.

Park the Mercedes. Get the parents or somebody to buy a 4-5 year old Honda or Toyota, and work out a monthly payment plan. I hate seeing anyone dig themselves in a hole.

I'm well over a $1000 a month in fuel for the family - it's a way of life.

Hmm

3500 a year???!!??

Lets see....

3500/4.99per. gallon=701.4 gallons, or 701 gallons...

701 gallons X 25MPG= 17,535 miles...

Drive Less.

If you drive 10,000...thats 400 gallons of fuel at...25MPG

At...4.99 per gallon... 1996...

Keep the Benz and don't drive as much.

its kinda hard to not drive less when everything is a 30 minute drive away. School is 25 miles one way, but work is only 5 miles. I would love to bike to work but the road to it is basically a highway with barely any shoulder. I haven't really gone anywhere in the last two months. Furthest I have driven in the last 6 months was to Orlando and parked the car for a week since I didn't need to drive while at the conference.

Central FL sucks.

I need to pull my injectors and have them pop tested/rebuilt and re-time the injection pump so the fuel injection system is running as per factory spec. Damn injectors are original and show no signs of any rebuilding.

But, I will say this. I am glad I live at home and have parents that are cool with me living here while I go to school. I will pay any price for fuel, well reasonable and under 8$ a gallon to go to fuel. Once it hits... $7 my ass is burning veggie or I'm biking the 50 miles round trip.
