Why not just Sudden Death ?

Not having ever golfed, I wonder why they are going to make Tiger and Rocco do a whole 18 holes today,,,, why not just sudden death yesterday ? They seemed to have enough daylight left.

For no reason in particular I believe the USGA rules don't allow that in the U.S. Open. Seems stupid to me. Not going to get anywhere near the ratings on a Monday than a Sunday afternoon.

Thats right--PGA is a modified sudden death format. Its an old rule and has nothing to do with TV.

'Cause Golf is a manly sport...

You can't expect a wimpy sudden death ending to Golf!

I'm not a golf guru...

How many holes are played in sudden death?

Might be a stamina thing if they have to go several rounds after a heated 18-hole match...

If the rules state "...18 holes for a tie at the end of regulation..." then that's the deal...

Let's see...Tiger with a bad knee...another "Shilling/Bloody Sock" moment for sports?

Rocco, taking on a "wounded Tiger" scenario...who's got the sympathy meter wired up for this one?

Where's that NFL Announcer dude (does the "Chunky Soup" Voice-Overs) when we need him?

"The icepick-cleated titans of the fairways (tundra) approach the T-boxes with furrowed brow and a determination like none that has ever been witnessed by any gallery since the beginning of time..."

Hey, someone, somewhere, in some office, is trying to set up a satellite dish to sync-in the GOLF CHANNEL for the rest of his buddies...GAR-RAWN-TEED!

By definition, in any sport, sudden death means the first person to score wins. So in golf, whoever wins a hole first.

Remember Carlin's routine, Baseball vs. Football

In football, if there's a tie you go to "sudden death." In baseball, you play extra innings, the game could go on forever . . ."
