Californians may stop "gay marriage" with ballot initiative.

The weddings will stop abruptly this fall if California voters approve a November ballot initiative banning gay marriage.
It's by no means certain that California won't take back what it has given."

Hmm, Where Have I Heard About This?

Majority rule . . . what a concept, but I suppose that's where "tyranny of the majority" expression comes from.

Better "tyranny by the majority" than "tyranny by the minority"!

Has there ever been a statewide VOTER referendum - in any state - where the voters have approved Gay Marraige?

In the 4 states with legal gay marraiges or unions, correct me if I am wrong, either the courts or legislatures have imposed their narrow wills on their citizens.
MA, VT, CA, NJ.
This wouldn't be the tyranny of minority?.

Without tyranny of the "super" majorities, how would we amend the constitution?

.

This is another situation I do not understand.

How will gay marriage destroy the foundation of families.

Why do you care if a gay couple gets married or not.
It's really none of your business is it ?

Do you have to try and tell people what they can an cannot do
because you haven't grown up enough to accept life on life's terms.

Or is it fear, or homophobia.

Really, what is the problem ?

I don’t get it either.

Two people of the same sex can live together in contented bliss, not harming anyone for years. They decide to joint together in any of the same bonds of matrimony that straight couples do, and people pitch a fit.

On the other hand. Two people of the opposite sex can bump into each other totally drunk while reaching for the same slot machine handle, and be married less than an hour later.

I’m thinking that households have been far more torn apart (“destroyed”), and our society greater damaged, by the divorces of straight couples (that should not have been allowed to wed), than could ever be done by gay marriages.

That's not the question that anti-same sex marriage can answer easily. Frankly, it's because the opposition is almost entirely based on prejudice and varying levels of ignorance and, at it's basic levels, fear and hate, whether enrobed in religious beliefs or not.

Now we can anticipate the return of the "The Gay Divorcee" starting Fred and Ginger, or Fred and Fred, Ginger and Ginger, Ginger and Mary Ann . . .

Here I am.
I am opposed to gay marriage. I am not opposed to gay civil unions which would confer the same rights.

4000 years of recorded history. That is what gay marriage is fighting. 4000 years of civilization where marriage always meant a man and a woman.

What hubris for this generation to think it is somehow wiser than all who went before.
