They closed down the entire, ENTIRE center of town today, which is causing damn near gridlock for...not sure...I think a HS reunion. At least thats the only possible event I can fathom that would require the entire Milford police department to be paid overtime to shut down the center. I am pissed because I spent the last 50 minutes trying to get myself out of it, all I wanted to do was grab a quick sandwich.

I hate this damn city so much, now we the tax payers get to pay the cops to close the road, so we can sit in traffic, so some well connected old farts can talk about there glory days. Even though the large green which never has a problem with big fairs, isn't big enough. They need to hog the roads as well, and piss off all 55k people who live here. At the next city meeting I'm going to ask if the school is paying for the cops out of their budget, because the all the taxpayers certainly shouldn't and in general complain about this BS. These are the same people who were screaming because the Alderman board was trying to slightly reduce the budget. Well if they have money for this BS, than we are paying to much tax still.

As soon as I get out of school and start to look for a house I'm out of here. Clinton, Guilford, or Brandford are calling me. I want a nice quite New England town, not something thats being taken over by New Yorkers. I can get more house in Guilford, with more property, and pay half the property tax, and not put up with BS like this. Not only that but the fishing is better. Sounds good to me!

I grew up about four miles from where I live now (a real nice neighborhood in west Houston). I hated this place growing up, so I moved away, then moved back, then moved away, then moved back. Now I live here in the same 'hood I've always been in and I love it.

Nah I'd never move out to CA, I like CT, and the east coast just not where I am now.

I have to be within no more than a 15 minute drive of salt water, so that limits me somewhat.

The boating and sailing around here is to nice to move away. Out in CA you can't go anywhere. They have a few offshore islands, and if you have a larger boat you go to Baja, or Alaska, thats it. On the east coast I can visit lots of places that are not to far away.

I always treasured a dream of *****canning the island and moving up to Stonington,I have a few friends there,visit at least 3 times a year,the people are much more cultured and subdued than the general run of parvenus on "lawn guyland"and there are plenty of lovely 19th century houses and farms maintained in immaculate,original condition,unlike the general trend here.

I love Stonington, and I would move their in a heartbeat. Thats where my friend's parents keep their sailboat, even though they live in Trumbull. The people are super friendly, the town is beautiful with some amazing 19th century homes as you said, mostly in damn near perfect shape. On top of all that the fishing is some of the best in LIS, and the sailing is damn fine.

The quality of life is very high, its still very much an old New England town. You can beat around on a weekend morning in your old truck or car and wave to everyone because you know them all, get coffee in a little local joint and talk to all the old timers, etc.

And if you need to get your fix of the city its but a train ride away... and all the clubs in New Haven are not to far either.
