Thanks!

I have a Nikon D200 and a D300 and various Nikon lenses.

The bird shots, the pier and sunset were done with the D300 and the 70-200 lens.
"God Rays" was shot with the D300 and an 18-200.
The dolphins and starlings were shot with a 300 f/2.8. A 2x teleconverter was used for the dolphins only. I borrowed the 300 2.8.
I used a Gitzo tripod with Arca-Swiss ball head for the pier, sunset and dolphin pics.

Wow ... those pics are great. I particularly enjoyed the pelican photo. The clarity was incredible.

The "posed" starling pic was cool too.

Yeah, that pelican is actually quite graceful, despite the awkward looking beak!

We only ate out one night and that was at the Breezeway. It was ok...not great. Usually we drive over to Sneads Ferry to eat when we go out. They have great seafood resturants there. Not fancy but good food. The Riverview Cafe is one of my favorites. It's right on the water where the commercial fishing boats dock. The seafood is very fresh and good. If you don't want seafood, don't go there.

Mostly, we bought fresh seafood at the little fish market near the swing bridge and cooked it ourselves. Be sure to ask if the seafood is local and when it was caught. The red snapper was fantastic. I broiled some and blackened some. We had shrimp just about every day in a variety of ways.

Great pics Bill!

Man, that last pier shot really reminds me of Hatteras (which I missed this year). I love that place...

It's only expensive if you stay at the Ritz Carlton. We usually stay at the Hampton Inn at Fernandina Beach. You have to book your room months in advance.

Very nice. If I feel like my head is going to implode I'll just look at one of your photos and "chillax."

My sister lives a little South of there. NC has some very nice beaches. We have a house further North near Morehead, NC. It's mostly private beaches, quiet, no crowds, and nice sandy beaches . . . .
