How was YOUR Fourth of July?

Did you have a nice holiday? Still have all of your digits intact? Eyebrows and other facial hair not completely singed off from barbeque grills and fireworks?

I nearly singed all of my hair off in my mother's gas grill when I started it this weekend, but it's still there. I forgot my fireworks and so, had to settle for just being a spectator and watching the Washington DC fireworks on TV.

How was yours?

I already posted my answer in the other thread.:( I have to repost here though.:D

I'm glad to hear you're OK Tom.

I had a great Fourth. We had a family picnic and watched movies on the big screen in our basement family room.

"Be Kind Rewind" is a pretty funny flic.:D

Here's the trailer for it:

I love Jack Black. Haven't seen that one yet.

Yeah, I'm fine. If I haven't blown myself up, burnined myself up, or otherwise maimed, crippled, or disabled myselfby this point in my life, I'm probably going to make it to the end with everything in tact.

Spent at our backyard pool drinking Skyy Vodka cocktails, swimming and cooking steaks. Listened to Rolling Stones entire library that day. :D

Went to a "Back to the 50's Weekend" ,,,, of course,,,, and partied, saw some great groups, great cars, danced, drank and got driven home by a hot Babe. All in all a fantastic weekend.

She's very cute, Chad. I know you're proud of her.

I doesn't happen often...

But I got hammered...No fireworks, just a group of friends and a bottle of Ketel one vodka.

Dee8go 07-07-2008 03:13 PM

Wait'll you see how fast it seems that she has graduated from high school and is getting ready to go off to college!

My Fourth?

Real excitement around the Benzadmiral household. I bought a vacuum cleaner.

I know, I know, you're saying to yourselves, "How can one man stand the non-stop excitement that is this guy's life?"

Simple answer: Valium.

Actually it's because of the kitten, Miss Tatiana. She reacts badly to flea bites (as do I), and the topical treatments have only lessened the problem. So I bought a modern bagless vacuum, sprayed the entire carpet, and then ran the machine. (Gawd, the gunk it pulled up!)

Linda tells me the vacuum pressure alone is enough to kill the fleas, but she's volunteered to vacuum once a week, after I spray the carpet that morning. Plus the cats get flea treatment once a month. We'll see if this helps the kitten's skin.

Living in a house full of fleas can be quite exciting, Paul.

I once had four roommates, all of whom owned dogs. I was the only one without a dog. The dogs all brought fleas and ticks into the house and everybody left except for . . . . Yeah, except for ME. I had nowhere else to go.

I was nice enough to help my landlord get rid of all those dogs . . . .

About the most useful thing I did was again to visit my best friend for the last 35 years, who has been in intensive care for the past two weeks. He underwent radiation for this round of cancer in his shoulder/throat area. A month ago he went in to the ER after 4 sessions because he couldn't swallow and was becoming malnourished and dehydrated. A month later, he's on a ventilator and stomach feeding tube with no way to talk and his wife is arguing with the hospital, which wants to send him home. ICU to home. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.00:eek::mad:

I couldn't bring myself to say "Happy 4th" to him, although he's earned it. Mike flew a Huey Cobra AH-1G gunship with the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam in the late 60's. During his time there, he received a serious arm injury and had to fight to avoid amputation. He's been wearing a metal plate in it for the past 40 years. Maybe it's one of the reason he's where he is, cause he could never have an MRI (with the plate) to establish the true state of his cancer.

I asked him on Friday, what would he call this, a collosal F**K UP? He nodded in agreement. I think he knows the spot he's in, but he's a fighter, and seems to improve with each passing day. 65 years young.
I'm on my way over there now.
Count all your blessings.
