Josh Hamilton

That boy can hit a baseball.

Plantman 07-15-2008 06:17 PM

He sure can.

What he did last night was amazing, but his making it back is even moreso.

He was the first pick several years ago and got a 3.9 million dollar signing bonus ot of high school.

I remember reading an article about him when he had his troubles, hoping he could get right.

Good for him!

Yeah, he put em out last night. But, 19 HR's in Texas' ball park is just about average stuff isn't is?
Q: Did the same guy pitch to other hitters too? That old timer musta needed a mega rubdown.:D

He's got 21 HR, which puts him 2 behind the League leader. He's got 95 RBI, which is 25 more than the next best in the AL. His batting average is in the top 10 in the League. That's not bad for someone just getting started in the Majors.

That's a years production in half a year. 95 RBIs. Amazin.
Being an NL guy from the NE (Yankees, Mets & Phillies) I don't get to see the midwest and west coast players too much. and I long ago gave up trying to follow all the teams. It was lot easier when there were only 16 teams in the major leagues, and all the players were OLDER than me!!!:D:D:rolleyes:

Did you know that Cape May, New Jersey is south of Cross Junction, Virginia?

And that Cumberland Gap, Virginia is west of Detroit, Michigan?

I know that CM is south of the Mason Dixon line, but I did not know that. In fact, I have never before heard of Cross Junction VA. I have motorcycled out to Winchester and overnighted in Paw Paw WV (a friend of mine has a cabin up there) while traveling down to TN. VA is a big state, with interesting borders.

We are dominated here by NY & Phila media markets. Hence, the subconscious tends to view this area as within those "borders" . And being on a southern peninsula surrounded by water on three sides, we are inclined to look north. Does that make any sense?:o

If you rode from Winchester to Paw Paw, you probably passed through Cross Junction on Route 522. I'm not surprised that you missed it.

It is a long, long way, both in mileage and culture, from Northern Virginia to the far southwest corner of the Commonwealth.

He's a testament to what hard work and a good support structure can do in times of hardship, my hats off to him! That was a great game last night.
