Every time we saw a police car we would wave them down and asked if they had any foot ball or base ball cards. I have no clue how it started or when it stopped.
I lived in a small town near Dallas.

I think I was barely 21. Buddy and I shared a 2br apt. We found a place to buy cheap beer. You take in three cases of empties and for $10, you came out with 3 cases of fullies. Life was good even if the beer wasn't. Actually, it wasn't that bad. Just off-brand label put out by local brewery. Of course rent was $110 a month, heat included. Gas was way under a dollar.

I had forgotten all about Sambos.

Was the Motel 6 ever $6 a night or did that come from somewhere else?

Sort of still goes on today...the kids seem to know this.

However, they carry "police officer" trading cards! Really! Has a pic of said officer on the front...so to get a complete collection, a kid's soccer mom has to get stopped by every officer on the force!

Godson has one (when his mom got pulled over)...never bothered to read the back of it to see what kind of stats they collect though...

I think I probably still have mine, too. I thought it might be a curiosity to my kids one day.

I went from II-S to I-A in '66 quicker than you could say Canada.
I don't remember if they reissued a card with a new classification once I got discharged. Anyone remember if they did that back then?
