Too Old to Drive?
At what age do you think drivers should requalify for a drivers license?
Mr Novak hit a pedestrian and he didn't even know it. http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/0708/537957.html |

Same could be said for teenagers. |

Interesting responses, what I also want to know is why you think Mr Novak didn't notice hitting the person?

Probably a drug issue. Wrong dosage or forgot to take something.
Or drunk. I think after 70 or so folks should be tested every year. Some are fine, others not. Paul Newman was still racing at very top levels when he was 79. Tom W |
Depend on where one lives, too. If one lives where traffic is heavy and/or high speed then more frequently. If one lives in backwoods areas of low density and low velocity then less frequently. A rule that makes sense in Boston, MA or San Jose, CA doesn't necessarily make sense in Sheridan, WY or Bonham, TX. Or vice versa.

After 65. Old people in their freaken Buick's and Caddy's drive me up the wall. They have no where to go, just waiting to die so they drive at like 20mph. Its like I have to be somewhere step on it grandma!

I think giving up driving must really be tough, once that time in your life comes around. My mother has had to gove that up and it was very hard on her emotionally. Where she lives there is very little if any public transportation.
I hope that day never comes for me. |
When it comes to bad drivers on the road, yes old people usually drive too slow, but they are usually real polite drivers also.
The absolute worst drivers and most dangerous drivers are teens and people in their twenties. Young guys that are very aggressive, racing everybody and cutting everyone off. Young girls with cell phones that pay more attention to their caller and texting than their driving. Old people may be irritating, but young people are dangerous! |

Actually, the over 70 age group has an accidents per mile rate similar to teenagers. They also have a high rate of driving thru the day care type of accidents.

Maybe we should do it like they do in Logan's Run? :D :D
