Wow ... the driver had to have been injured in that. ... at least if they were in their seatbelt that is.

Jeeeezuz! I wouldn't have guessed that a flimsy fifth wheeler would have been able to knock that over. It doesn't look as if the driver had much of a chance to survive that.

Looks like it only caught the door...good thing no one else was using the drive thru!

Looking at it more closely I see that the roof caught the left front corner of the camper. It's possible that the collapsing roof did not mash the whole cab of the truck but just the extreme left side. If so, the driver may have had room to his or her right.

Look at it closely and you can see someone heading out the passenger door as the roof collapses. Quick thinking.

Somehow he was able to unbuckle the seat beat and exit the other side of his truck as it was falling.
I suspect he wasn't wearing it ... or he had superhuman reflexes.

Thanks for the rest of the story. Glad no one was even hurt. Now I don't feel bad when I laugh.

Yeah, I guess you can see the passenger side door open as the roof is coming down. I bet he needed a change of drawers after that.

I have a brother in law with a big heart, but he tends to be a little, shall we say, unfocused. He once rented a Uhaul and nearly tore the top off of it at a drive through.

I guess that happens occasionally. But a couple of years later, he rented another truck and did exactly the same thing.

I think if it ever happened to me I would remember it each time I rented a similar vehicle.

Talk about poor construction, the supporting bricks didn't put up any resistance, there should have been an anchored steel poll in the middle of that roof to prevent exactly what happened. I'm glad that I never use drive-thrus anywhere

Yeah, that awning looked like a slight breeze might have blown it down.
