Why I love August in Houston

1. Your car AC feels good no matter how poorly it performs
2. You feel good in all social situations with a T-shirt and shorts;
3. No one, I mean no one, ever says "It sure is hot";
4. You plan all outdoor work activity between 5:00 a.m. & noon;
5. No one thinks you are lazy for knocking off by 2:00 each day.

Our son lives in Houston and it constantly amazes me how he copes with the heat. Growing up in Western Pa. is not a good prep for ungodly heat.

eh it's not so bad. Nice to have a vehicle that actually has very cold AC and moves lots of air. Even under the best conditions with working AC none of the benzes I owned could keep me cool as well as this Chrysler minivan.

I hate Houston in August; I've been through this same crap every year for 36 years (I'm 39). When I can afford it, I fully intend on leaving Houston every May and returning in September.

Jersey this time of year - 90's and 70% humidity.
Dallas currently - 100 and 32%. Feels nearly the same...

You think Houston is hot, you should try visiting Phoenix. It really gets hot here!

There is no "winter" here.

It's not the heat. It's the humidity . . . .

At 116, no it's the heat! Someone said, it's a dry heat - so is your oven! Try sticking your head in your oven...

yeah, but it's a dry heat. I was out there once in the summer. My hair looked like bunny fur.

I'd rather do the 100. The 70+ humidity and 90+ degrees in Jersey is sweaty miserable.

Tell me about it. I was there 2 weeks ago. 93-95 degrees and 70+% humidity as there were t-storms stalled over the tri-state area for 2 1/2 days. 101 here right now - yeah it's friggin hot but damn better than the humidity mixed in....
