Cop kills his dog partner and is charged.

This cop left the police dog he was responsible for in his car for 12 hours on a 109 degree day. Dog died a horrible death at this police officer's neglectful hands. Hope they HANG this *********...

Weird story ... would be interested in hearing this guy's explanation because I can't imagine an excuse for that. You don't just "forget" your dog is in the car for 12 hours.

There was a case around here last summer that was really sad, when an officer left his dog in the car at the station with the AC on, I think for an hour or so while he booked the criminal. This is apparently a common practice because the trained attack dogs can't be taken into the station because they can be vicious (seems stupid to me ... how about building a kennel at the station?). Well, this guy's car stalled and Ac shut off and he didn't know it. When he came out his dog was almost dead and died within minutes ... he was absolutely devastated and not charged with anything since it was an obvious mistake and he was clearly going to suffer over it for the rest of his life anyway. I felt so sorry for this officer ... those guys are really close to their dogs, and he was just following a policy that normally would be safest for the dog and the people in the station.

But yeah, the guy in the story in the original post, I can't see how he had any explanation for leaving the animal in the car for 12 hours. Poor dog ... that's a godawful way to die.

That's not just stupidity, that's disregard for the dog's comfort, at the very least. Even if it weren't fatally hot out, how could anyone possibly think it was OK to leave a dog shut in a car for 12 straight hours? My little sister has an IQ of 60, but she would never think of leaving an animal in that condition. So it isn't just stupidity.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio was under pressure to "forget this whole incident" and not prosecute Sgt. Lovejoy. He didn't...GOOD!

He said this officer will be treated just like anyone else would be treated.
