MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man who left his mother's corpse to rot in her home for more than seven years told police he didn't report her death because he was in trouble with the law in both New Hampshire and his home state.

In a 100-page state police case file, authorities say John Simmeck and his sister Diane Simmeck made biannual trips to their mother's ramshackle house in Middlefield, Connecticut, stepping over her mummified remains on the floor.

Who needs children? Pets are far better and faithful

Very disturbing story, the Hartford Courant carried the story a couple Sundays ago. There were rumors that the brother/sister relationship was a bit more than that. Sad on many levels. Disgusting on some.

You never know what the creepy neighbor down the street is doing.

I have a few that cause me to pause and think.

Bet its because of stories like this people buy into the gated community
and HOA subdivisions.

But if you fence in your garden you might just be trapping the rabbit in, not out.

That was exactly my first thought. While most towns here at least have minimum property care standards there are parts of CT where there aren't any (I'm guessing this was one of them).

Apparently the neighbors had just thought that the mother had moved away to NH with some of her kids.

We had a case like that on Centre Island,guy wrote a play about it,"I dismember Mama"...

Weird people, but there are a lot of them in upstate CT. I came across some cow sacrifice thing in the woods when I was fishing up their once! Farmer got all nervious, really glad my dads friend had his rifle in his truck that time.
