My 240D helped me meet a cute girl today....
I'm visiting in Seattle, and let me tell you, it's great W123 and older territory. I've seen more W123s around (including a wagon that claimed to be a 4Matic?) than anywhere I've ever been before.
I was walking around a shopping center and a twentysomething girl in an early W123 240D rolled up and parked a row away. I strolled over, and found that she was muttering to herself and reaching for the STOP lever under the hood. Vacuum leak! She didn't know much about the car, it had been given to her. A little chat later, I was poking around, and found her power door locks disconnected. Seconds later, we tried it again, and her car stopped itself correctly. I got a half hour of chat over some delicious Seattle coffee, and a phone number, to show for my efforts  Too bad I'm leaving in a week, I won't be able to see her more than once again. I'm not driving my 240D, it's at home in Orlando while I drive my friend's Subaru around town. But the knowledge I gained from it sure came in handy!

Excellent. I wonder how many romances start as a result of broken cars? Better yet how many start out because it's a Mercedes?

I met one of my girlfriends by pushing her stalled car out of traffic on the exit ramp from the George Washington Bridge. I got her number to "make sure she got home all right"

I got several dates by asking for clothing advice. "If we were to go out on a date, which would you rather see me in? The blue one or the red one?". Somehow I had always asked the pretty girls for advice.
