Once we start trading with Cuba again, there will be a huge influx of antique cars into the US, I predict. They'll all still be running, too.

No there won't. Enough of them got out already that Fidel decided to call them a national treasure. He doesn't want any more of them out, and export of them is really difficult now. They do have some kind of government car lot that allows a few of them to be sold, but they know what they have there now and it is strictly regulated.

I like the old white 1960 Olds 88 4 door hardtop right at the end, shown up on blocks.

That has to be one of the very last ones that got in there before the US embargo.

They were sure wonderful old barges from Eisenhower's time.

I wish I still had that old 1958 Pontiac Super Chief sedan I owned for a while back in 1969

Go to Turkey or Syria and you'll see old cars everywhere, too--only a good portion of them will be fintail Mercedes being used as Taxis. Can you imagine modern cars being used for millions of miles? No one could afford the upkeep or deal the hassle of how complicated they've gotten. Just goes to show the difference between them and our throw-away society.

To keep them going, a lot of those cars have been outfitted with parts cannibalized from totally different vehicles. A few of them look like their drive axles have been lifted from a truck.

You nailed it Pokey, Road & Track had an article years ago about Cuban autos which reinforced your statement. Cubans are exceptionally creative to keep a car on the road.
