Any one who assumes the position of mayor in Detroit has all of the cards stacked against them . All of the major industires that used to provide a tax base have left. Really the ony people who are left living there cannot afford to get out. A big mess.

I'd do it but I have no desire to live in Detroit and the Kiwi will wear off in a few days.

On a serious note his replacement Ken Cockrel seems to be honest and genuine based on his actions if he can withstand the $hitstorm Kwame, Conyers, Collins & Co started Detroit may have a chance.

Some of these old, formerly grand cities have fallen so far. I think it'll take someone extraordinary to bring them back from the state in which they find themselves today.

I remember a few years ago trying to complete a construction contract with the Detroit city school system. It was a nightmare. It was not too different from trying to conduct business with the District of Columbia government.

The District SEEMS to have done much better for itself with the last two mayors they've chosen. Anthony Williams at least got the city back in the black, I think. He is an accountant and he managed the city like one. It was sorely needed.

Kwame&Co have been steering contracts to friends for years whenever someone starts and investigation they play the race card and it goes away. Now with the Synagro scandal and the FBI they are to the point of no return. This thing goes all the way up to Rep. Conyers who is head of the judiciary committee. I'll applaud when they fry.

Isn't it nice when justice gets done . . . . at least ocassionally?
