My latest airshow pics...

I went to Winston Salem this weekend for a small airshow.

The Smith Reynolds airport is like a throwback in time. The beautiful terminal features a large stained glass mural depicting a scene with airplanes flying over hills and forests.

Here's some shots:

I didn't really take the time to document the whole event... I was there to relax and have fun!

Those planes are beautiful.

I think I see where the stained glass piece is. Too bad you don't have any pics of it. The website doesn't show it either. I'd love to get a commission of that magnitude.

It was a nice piece. Looked to be about 8'x20'. I wanted to get a shot of it but people were being "discouraged" from going into the terminal and wandering around. It was amazing to see how air travel used to be. No gates, no security... Everyone waited in a common area until their plane came in and then walked out, across the tarmac and up the stairs into the plane.

I always say I was born to late. Look at how people dressed to! Proper manners, proper dress, no cell phones, amazing!

Some cool planes!

Thanks for posting those. My favorite is the Obsession plane with the kid sitting underneath it with his head in his hands.

Were those Marine or AF Raptors?
Fly-by's or Fly-in's?
Do you know where they were from?

AF Raptors from Langley. They just did a single fly-by...

I have some detailed close-ups of a Raptor from another location around somewhere - all over, inside the weapons bays, landing gear, the variable exhaust, pretty much everything I could reach without climbing up on it. Only thing I couldn't get is the cockpit as I'm not quite tall enough to get up there unassisted...
