GOT NITROGEN?

Mercedes Benz of San Diego is proud to offer our customers nitrogen tire inflation for only $59.95.

Nitrogen is a non-flammable dry gas that keeps your tires inflated longer than "plain old air". Because of its larger molecular size, nitrogen migrates through a tire three to four times slower than oxygen. A tire filled with "plain old air" will lose 1.5 PSI in less than a month; with nitrogen, this could take three months or longer.

The benefits to having your tires filled with nitrogen are:
  • Convenience: Less frequent trips to the gas station to keep your tires properly inflated.
  • Fuel Economy: Proper tire pressure lessens rolling resistance and maximizes fuel efficiency.
  • Handling: Proper tire inflation ensures the recommended "contact patch" of your tire is on the road.
  • Safety and Reliability: Under inflated tires cause 90% of blowouts. Nitrogen provides more reliable pressure for reduced blowout potential.
  • Tire Life: Incorrectly inflated tires accelerate tire wear.
  • It's better For the Environment: Anything that improves fuel efficiency and reduces toxic emissions is good for the environment, and nitrogen in your tires can help.
In fact, we believe in the benefits of nitrogen so much that we are in the process of converting our entire loaner car fleet over to nitrogen filled tires.

One advantage of nitrogen is that it is less likely to leak out.

The best argument I have heard for nitrogen is that it is dry. Compressed air often carries water with it, especially when it comes from cheap gas station compressors that don't have any driers. Water inside your tire is a bad thing, especially in freezing weather.

Any one that gets that done is a moron.

Air already is 78% nitrogen by volume. Oxygen is only 21%.

What are they going to do next? Start selling water in a bottle for $5?

Start selling water in a bottle and convince the public it's better than what comes out of your kitchen faucet.

It's a pain, you have to check your tire pressure every 4-5 months. All that bending and stooping. Plus those valve stems can get all yucky with dirt and brake dust. It can get quite trying at times.

I know, we're all ready to make sacrifices for better fuel economy but really!

At least once a month, I lower my rear tire pressures, and jack up the front for the trip to the track....

Then adjust them back afterwards.

Its not that bad.....
