Bot's Bees are BACK!!!

After a two season hiatus (I guess everything I read about the mass death of bees recently was true), I walked by these bushes by the front yard and heard the familiar sounds of...BEEES!

I'm not a photographer by any sense of the word, and my lens isn't great for up-close shots, but I captured some pics of the little buggers in action...

Perhaps they were just on sabbatical . . .

I've been noticing honey bees in the mix of bumble bees, flies, moths and the occasional hummingbird that frequent the Rose of Sharon we have around the house. They've been largely absent for the past few years.

We had 6 hives this year but we lost one because of moths that we discovered too late. I'm still not sure why all the colonies out west had so many problems (Disease?)

What do moths do to the bees?

They sneak into the hive and lay eggs eventually weakening the entire colony.
