Anyone good with Electric Garage Doors?

I have this problem with my garage door. The remote does not open it any more. Also, the light is blinking on the garage door button in the house. I have a double garage and the second button on my remote will open the other garage door, so I know it is not the remote. And my wife's remote will open her garage door but not mine. It seems to be a problem with the receiver understanding the remote. I have a wall mounted remote on the outside of the garage door and this will still open the garage door when I punch in the code. It is a Sears unit if that helps.

Any input will be appreciated.

You ever lube the rollers? If the motor meets too much resistance it will stop -- it's a safety feature to keep from rolling Little Johnny up into the ceiling.

Yes, I did lube them. I don't think that is the problem, as it goes up and down fine with the hard wired button and the wall mounted remote. I think it is a code issue and I need to find out how to reestablish the code between the hand held and the motor unit.

Do a search on Google for the sync procedure for your particular hardware.

Blinking light can also be a problem with a blocked sensor. Check the site path of your sensors located at the bottom of the doors that face each other. Make sure each green light is on.

The sensors can get dirty or knocked out of alignment. The mounting brackets aren't very strudy. No point in diagnosing further until this is working.

I thought he said that the door works fine with the external opener. It's only the single remote that doesn't open/close the door.

Is the external opener wired ???

My single door has a Security button, if you press it the interior light on the control blinks, and ONLY wired controls work.

ie it disables all remote access, push snd hold the security button again and the light stops blinking.

Need to do a resynch. Get a step ladder and grab the remote. Usually involves pushing a button on the opener itself til a light comes on, then push remote button, and holding til a light blinks (sometimes a small LED, other times the service light on the opener (the one that lights up the garage). Instructions usually on a label on the opener itself.

Not dead batteries as the remote works for the other garage door.

I did check the sensors and they are OK. The green light is on. I always check these first. Besides, I believe they only keep the garage door from coming down, not up. And the garage door does open OK with the hard wired button in the house and the wireless remote button mounted on the outside of the garage.

I vote with Gilly on this. Find the directions for setting up the garage door opener, which may be on the manufacturer's website, and look at the directions for setting up remote openers.

Yes, they do sometimes get out of alignment. I think my resident spiders mess with them at night. But they are aligned and the green light is bright.
