The Harvey Post Office suspended delivery Oct. 9 after the carrier reported to her supervisors that she was caught in gun crossfire as she walked her route. The carrier said someone in a vehicle shot at a person on the block as she walked near 151st Street and Marshfield Avenue.

Getting mail on time is important for many people in the community, including Jobonna Brantley, 18, whose family receives food stamps. Brantley, of the 15200 block of Marshfield Avenue, doesn't have a car, so she walked to the post office to pick up her mail. "I'm angry," she said after the letter carrier finally visited her home. "It's crazy, because we couldn't get our [food stamp] cards or checks."

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Sounds like another average day in New Haven/Hartford. I refused to go to the north end of Hartford for appointments after I saw one guy getting beat up on the corner.

But if it did kill them, would it be a loss? With her not making contributions and taking resources, I would think it would be a good thing if she got whacked.

....wow! Bring me my food stamps, don't you make me have to leave my hole in the wall to get it buster!!! I've got delinquents to feed!! She should have ducked!

I was in Safeway last night and there was a family in front of me. they were buying there food with food stamps and WIC (Women In Crisis = State Food Stamps) coupons, and her credit card. sadly the cashier had a problem juggling all the forms of payment and then the credit card wouldn't work. The mother in the family was working with the cashier trying to work it out and the father was standing there shaking his head with a very pissed off look on his face. then he went and talked to the manager.

I was behind this display of government handouts in all its glory for 15 minuets. I turned to my roommate and asked him why is the father so mad? Is it really that hard to work and buy your food with old fashion Green Backs?

Work? Much easier for them to pop another kid out and get more money.
