I'm going out on a limb but in my own experience Panasonic phones have been the best.

I just picked this one up about a week ago and it's very rugged. Link below. Also, Sears has a Craftsman branded shop phone.

The Uniden is very good but the Panasonic has better reception and sound, this is the model you are looking for http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Phones-Fax/Telephones/DECT-6-0-Phones/model.KX-TG9371B_11002_7000000000000005702

i bought the same one as powerpig for my mother, she was always dropping hers or the buttons would fail, so far so good.
it was really funny when i gave it to her i went over to set it up for her i took it over to the sink under the light like i was goung to show her something about it and "accidentally" dropped it in the sink full of dishes, it was really funny, she was happy to see it is submersable. the unit actually floadted!!

next day i bought one for my self, works well, reception seems good it will reach about 1/2 block from home

the link didn't work but this looks promising if it can survive a sink full of dishes!
