W202 C Class as a Track Car?
OK First I am NOT LOOKING TO DO THIS FOR REAL ITS JUST A THOUGHT.
Think about this for a second. Seriously. I have read on other Mercedes sites about many people buying W202 C Classes and using them for track cars. Gutting it out and doing a little bit of engine mod. The W202 are extremely affordable to buy and do not weigh that much. With the light weight and the C230 Kompressor with 185BHP or the C280 with 200BHP and its great handling you could have yourself a fun and afordable Sunday Track car. What do you think? |
Yeah, I think a guy names SpeedyBenz has a W202 that he tracks alot.
I am building a W124 track car. :) |
If I were building a M-B for amateur racing, I would almost certainly start with a C-class. The price is less of an aspect than the smaller and lighter platform, since I wouldn't be using a new one.

Theres alot of off the shelf stuff you can use to modify a C-Class, as it is fairly new still, and there is a pretty large amount of C-Class enthusiasts.

What W124 are you using?
|
One of the wagons in my signature....
|
What were the mods that you are doing to it? W124

Yes the upgrades can get pricy. You are right thoue about the affordable track car part. You can buy a W202 for under $5,000 I would love to do it, but I just dont have the room right now. I have the E320,C280,420SEL, GMC SUV for the winter and a new dodge caravan I use for work supplies. Down at my other house I have a 2009 Nissan Murano S that takes up the whole garage. Maybe some day when the kids move out.
