Unhappy Akron woman, 90, facing eviction, shoots self

A 90-year-old Akron woman, about to be evicted from her La Croix Avenue home for failing to pay her mortgage, apparently shot herself Wednesday while Summit County sheriff's deputies were knocking on her door.


Sad sign of times, hope it gets better soon, this is not looking good in any way.

Thats fine if they were swindlers, there are many out there but this was a 80 year old woman who just didn't wish to be homeless, at least the senior citizens deserve better. How bout locking up those who rip off millions of tax payers' money? They seem to end up in 5 star hotels passing off as jails.

And the rest of the story is she lived and Fannie Mae forgave her mortgage, kind of sets a dangerous precedent IMO.

The crime commited is constituted in the infringement of this country's basic framework, The Declaration of Independence

If you have money enough to pay your way through the intransparency of nowadays biggest monetary instutions, you will find crimes enough to keep you short of a few breaths. Ofcourse, only if you understand what's going on.

The next hurdle to take will be the prosecution of such crimes, which requires judges to act outside the framework of the monetary moguls, which is most likely not going to happen.

Just because the entire system is corrupt, doesn't mean them folks are innocent.

The woman was 90, we have no idea what her situation was, even if the state absorbed her debts, how long do you think the woman would have lived. I see here as a classic case of taking it out on the wrong person when there are others who beat the system on daily basis furthering the burden of the exchequer.

No.......we punish the big fish which we hardly ever do, its always the easy target, she was 90 years old and it wasn't a house in a posh locality, maybe the state could have made her a offer of a senior citizen home instead of throwing her on the street.

Why? She didn't pay up and it was a legal foreclosure.

So thats it she doesnt have to pay the balance of her mortgage? What happens after she passes (which may take a while seems like a tough old bird to me) is the house part of her estate free and clear. Whats it feel like to get shot?

Yip, free and clear. Her estate get the free and clear house, which also happens to be the same people that could have helped with her mortgage, whom also could have got her counseling on how to avoid foreclosure, that counseling would have taught them that a reverse mortgage would save her house at a lower interest rate.

It's a total lack of ****** accountability.

I also fault the foreclosing company for not exploring the options, the companies are hiring idiots that rubber stamp foreclosed on notes that could easily be worked out.
