Talking My Pics from the 2008 Petit Le Mans

Here are a few of the pictures I took last weekend at the 2008 Petit Le Mans 1,000 mile endurance race at Road Atlanta.
Enjoy!

Pole Starter
Peugeot 908 #07
Nicolas Minassian, Marc Gene and Christian Klien
The diesel powered Peugeot looked unstoppable when it broke the track record in qualifying and lead most of the race. It's raw power on the straights was amazing. Only in the final laps of the nearly 10 hour race did it fall victim to McNish in his Audi.

Winner P1 and overall winner
Audi Sport #1
Allan McNish, Rinaldo Capello and Emanuele Pirro
McNish got off to a terrible start when he crashed and damaged his diesel powered Audi R10 on the way to the starting grid. Repairs were made and he started the race 2 laps down. Absolutely unbelievable driving by the whole team but especially McNish allowed them to catch and pass the pole sitting Peugeot in the final laps of the 1,000 mile race.

Winner P2
Penske Porsche RS Spyder #5
Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe
Helio was glad to be in a race car on Saturday after spending all day Friday in Federal Court facing tax evasion charges. He showed his joy by leading the P2 class most of the day and finishing with a victory.

Winner GT1
Corvette C6-R #3
Johnny O'Connell, Jan Magnussen and Ron Fellows
Another strong run for Johnny, Jan and Ron in the Corvette C6-R. They had already wrapped up the championship in GT1 for the season.

__________________________________________________________________
Winner GT2
Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR #45
Joerg Bergmeister and Wolf Henzler
Another strong run for Joerg and Wolf in the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. They had already wrapped up the championship in GT2 for the season.

Yeah, we watched several hours of it this weekend on TV. The overhead shots were just great.

Of course…
Everything looks better from up above.

Nice pics. I've always been fond of the GT3 RSR.

Very nice! That Audi has been winning for 15 years straight or something! I remember when they figured out how to change the transmission in 45 seconds flat. That was jaw dropping.

To watch the P1s from overhead and see the speed difference is amazing. Really puts it in perspective. sine non of the cars are slow by any measure. Fun to watch them race at Mid-Ohio too.
