Clearwire Internet?
Anyone using it, I am wanting to dump my dial-up, and get something faster. I am looking at Clearwire, since it is like my Cell phone, and I can take it with me on the road, and it is easy to move, in case I do move... Anyone have experience with it?

Clearwire is fairly new. It's a joint venture with the big boys spearheaded by Sprint. Comcast, Intel and others are also involved. At the moment, you can't take it with you because it is in limited mostly metro areas although they have plans to roll it out nationwide. You may want to look at one of the cell providers broadband service if you want nationwide availability. I have the Verizon service and it works well. I've also used the Sprint service and it works well also.

My brother has it, and he seems happy with it, but he also lives in Seattle. He's brought the modem over with him a few times, and it always seems to work great at the house.

I've had it at the house for close to 2 years now.
The good: Pretty fast - 1.5M/sec download speed. The bad: Despite what the literature says, it needs AT LEAST 3 bars to work reliably. Not too stable, needs to be re-booted a couple times a week sometimes. Craps out often when loading web pages - stalls out and requires refreshing. This is particularly annoying when placing internet orders with credit card numbers or after filling out long forms only to have all your info dissappear. Brick walls and coated, argon filled windows cut the signal strength significantly. I'm always turning the unit back and forth to get the last bit of signal out of it. During the time I've had it, I had one unit die and the other is good so far. So, bottom line is: If you have 4 to 5 bars it works perfect, less and you're asking for trouble.
