nice kitchen cutlery

I need kitchen knives. Most of mine area mish mash of accumulated cheap knives and I'm tired of it. The only knife I have that is worth a hoot is one from Cutco that I was given as a sample by a Cutco rep at the county fair about 5 years ago, but their selling tactics turned me off...they reek of MLM and their pricing would put Snap On to shame.

Anybody have suggestions for good home kitchen cutlery?

I sell Cutco, If i were you I would call up a sales rep to get your knife sharpened and have a look at what they offer. It will not cost you anything to get the knife sharpened and we have 0% payment plans available.

Go to this web page

http://www.cutco.com/customer/howToBuy.jsp

put in your zip and you can call the office closest to you. You have nothing to lose and the kid gets paid whether you buy or not so dont feel bad about not buying one.

There pricing is not that bad. Sure they are expensive but that is really how much good cutlery goes for. Henkels is the top selling brand in stores but Cutco is better in so many ways. Henkels is also more expensive, but Cutco out sells Henkels and Wustof x2. If you like the knife that you have why not stick with the company.

Wusthof - the Classic line is very solid.

Kershaw Shun also make very fine knives, in fact that's what I recommend.

Messermeister is also good quality at a lower price point than the Wusthof and Shun knives.

A bit of advice: Buy a smaller number of high-quality knives. Get a santuko knife, an 8" chef's knife, and a 3" paring knife.

Optional is a bread knife and a cleaver - you can probably get away with a cheaper bread knife as you won't use it as often as the others, though it's invaluable for slicing a tomato. Ditto on the cleaver - you won't use it nearly as much as the chef's knife and the paring knife.

A good knife is a good knife whether or not it's for the home or pro kitchen. Wusthof Trident is the most seen in a pro kitchen and IMO the most durable with the easiest warranty service. In general, buy made in Germany, buy forged, buy classic styles. Brands to consider:

1) Wusthof Trident
2) Frederick Dick. (F Dick)
3) Messermeister
4) Henckel

I hear good thing about Cutco's. I'd probably buy them just to help the guy selling them. Coming from sales I know its tough and like helping them out.

Cutco has the best Warranty in the world not just the industry.

If at any time you are not completely satisfied with the performance of your CUTCO product, we will correct the problem or replace the product.

If your knife ever becomes dull we will sharpen for you for free (either you can have a rep come to your house and sharpen them or you can send them into the factory to have them sharpened)

Should you damage your CUTCO through misuse or abuse, we will replace the item for one half of the current retail price plus shipping/handling and tax.

If at any time within fifteen (15) days after receipt of your CUTCO you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason you may get a full refund of your purchase price by contacting CUTCO Customer Service at the address below.( how many people do that, its kinda like taking your Cutlery for a test drive. I wouldn't just spend $1000 on a set of knifes if I couldn't try them out)

And this is a Forever Guarantee, not a lifetime. All the other brand have a lifetime warrentee, but that mean only what the expected life of the knife it, which in most cases is 7-10 years. CUTCO is Guaranteed for life, not only your life but your childrens and others. Who ever has the knifes in hand we will honor the Forever Guarantee, even if its 100 years from now.

If you're a serious home cook the absolute most important thing about a quality knife is how it feels in your hand. Go to a quality restaurant supply or kitchen store and just handle a few knives to get a feel for them. You'll find differences in balance, grip, and weight in addition to how they look.

The knives people have been recommending are all good quality (Cutco, Wustof, Henkel, etc). But if you buy one that doesn't feel right in your hand, it won't matter what the warranty is or how much it cost. You'll hate using it.

WOW!! Those are amazing. I've only seen that kind of steel used in high end swords. They ought to last a long time.
