Help please
Hi, im new here. After i registered i notice this forum is for mercedes owners. I dont have a mercede but im hoping i can still get some help as car person to another car person. I have a 1990 honda accord. I just bought it, and the previous owner had told me at one time the car overheated and so they replaced the radiator. So my question is that i see white smoke coming out from the exhaust. Even when the car is at normal running condition, theres white smoke coming out. Is that a sign of head gasket going bad? Please, any help would be so appreciative

Sure sounds like a headgasket gone bad. Check your oil....does it look like coffee with cream?
|
Take your 710 cap off and look at the inside for the presence of oil and anti freeze.
|
Plug condition ought to tell another part of the story as well.

If the white smoke smells like rotten pumpkins, you've got a blown headgasket or a breached water jacket in the head....'course if the car over heated before, the motor could have a cracked head...
White smoke usually means water vapor. Blue smoke means burning oil. |
Yes, the Honda head is very sensitive to warpage after an overheat.
This happened to our 1999. The head will need to be removed and machined before being reinstalled. After reading of some people putting "good money after bad" and still having oil in the water after replacing th head gasket we decided to just change the engine with a guaranteed unit from a salvage yard. If anyone is in the Atlanta area and needs used Honda parts, check with Honda Parts Connection in Buford, GA. |
