This PC world we live in and the many ways it pisses me off

Suddenly I have awaken to see a world were the little things I grew up are gone.
Gone are the days were Christmas cheer and good will prevail. Here now is a world were you won't even get a "Merry Christmas" at the stores one frequents. It is not that there is no sentiment but it seems it has gotten to the point where EVERYONE has a reason to complain.
I mean, one cannot say "Merry Christmas" anymore as it may "offend"??? WTF???

Now one cannot even have children dress up as Thanksgiving day characters as we may "offend" the American Indian...WTF??
I see a "Black" history month..doesn't mean I have to pissed off as there is NO "White" history month....
I recall Christmas Cards and Caroling now it seems everyone MUST adopt a colder and more PC way of operating. personally it really bothers me.

So, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all....and Happy Kwaanza, Happy Chanukah, and whatever else fits.. I guess now we get "holiday" cards instead of Christmas greetings..I wonder if the neighbors will complain our snowman is too white...

You might be watching too much Bill O'Reilly.

Do you really think that Christmas is getting shoved to side in favor of the other holidays? Christmas will be everywhere you look for the next month.

I agree with you, though, that kids should be allowed to dress up as pilgrims and indians at Thanksgiving.

Um, have you been sleeping for a decade or so?

I've never noticed that people of other faiths seemed bothered by my wishing them a Merry Christmas. Any kind of pleasant greeting seems like it would be received in the same spirit it was given. If not, I'd say the problem was more the recipient's than the one doing the greeting.

oh, almost forgot, I apologize if anything in this post "offended" anyone.....
I'd prefer the screenname HuskyPerson if it has to do with being a fan of the dogs, or Plus-sizedPerson if it has to do with size.

I try to offend everyone equally, it seems to be a good policy.

That is my policy also.. I am an equal oppurtunity bigot -- I hate stupidity wherever it is hiding (including in me)

I do agree that things have gone way to far in the "I don't want to offend anybody " direction. I also think that more people are carrying huge chips on their shoulders and are getting offended for very little. The latest thing I have heard about it a lawsuit to take "In God we trust " off all our coins as it offended an athiest. As if he spends his time reading the coins before spending them. It is things like this that are the result of the politics of divide and conquer we have been playing since the 1960's.

Oh man, I never even thought of that angle! Is AnimalPerson innocuous enough or does that offend plant lovers?

This PC bull was even prevalent in the military in the late 90's before I retired from the Navy, and could get just as asinine as anywhere else.

On one occasion, at the base where I was stationed, a young petty officer was coming out of a building. As he had the door still open and was stepping outside, a female officer was just a few feet away, headed toward the door to enter the building. He held the door open for her out of courtesy, saluted and said "Good morning ma'am" (the salute and greeting were standard military OP when meeting a superior officer).

She immediately jumped his butt and chewed him out, and put him on report for sexual harassment - because he had held the door open for her, in her view preferential treatment based on sex.

Fortunately, the squadron executive officer was a little more level headed - he immediately dismissed all charges against the young man once he'd had the chance to review the case, and word was he gave the female officer involved a healthy butt chewing for wasting his time with such nonsense.

Unfortunately, the squadron XO also had to advise the young petty officer that he may as well find another career once his enlistment was over - with the then-current PC attitude in the Navy, just having it on his record that he had been charged with sexual harassment, even though the charges had been found completely false, would be cause for any advancement board to automatically reject him for promotion to a higher rank - and depending on the attitude of his boat's CO, could even be used to deny him the opportunity to reenlist.

On that same base, they finally ended up uncovering a ring of female military members that had a little black market operation going - for a sufficient sum of money, they would ensure that sexual harassment charges would be brought against your person of choice, effectively ending their career.

I dress whatever way I want too....I don't care what anyone thinks, if they don't like it that's their problem. Celebrate anything and everything given the chance as for being politically correct- thats an oxymoron.

That's not the world I live in?? It used to bother me, but then I grew up. If someone gets hostile with you, throw it back at them... And stop watching TV! All those real paranoid "can't do this anymore" types are just feeding on people who don't know any better and must not get out much. We've got women, black, middle eastern, mexican and white jokes all day at work. In mass e-mails no less. I've only seen two people fired ever, and they were asian. Oddly enough, replaced by another one.
