What oil to use???.

Hello,

I recently purchase a 94 e420 with 170,000 miles on it(no owners manual). My question is what whould or should be the wright motor oil to use in this aluminum engine.I have my Thoughts.Being this is my first M/B i would like to get a general consensus from other v8 owners on what seems to give the best protection for the cars.

Thanks.

Mobil 1. Available at pretty much any Wal*Mart. Amsoil is also good but harder to get.

Wow, you scrolled down past all the tech forums to Open Discussion to ask about oil?

The Search feature of this forum's vBulletin software is quite robust and there are numerous discussions about lubrication, car related and otherwise.

Run for your life- another oil thread!
Seriously, call your local MB dealer and ask him what Synthetics they use on that model.
Also, you can work from this chart.:

Mobil1 ESP is probably ok or Mobil1 15w-50 (Walmart in jugs- cheaper)

In a 14 year old car with 170,000 miles on her? I'd go semi-synthetic. Just my $.02.

Speaking of oil . . . there's going to be a bonanza of veg oil with the slight scent of turkey around the country, isn't there.
