Who's fake Euro 500SEC, w/body kit....?

Tonight, just a little while ago, I saw a dark grey, and silver, 500SEC, with fake AMG body kit, Euro bumpers, and lights, and those ugly aftermarket chrome wheel well trims. It was sitting in Pep-Boys parking lot in Hamden, Connecticut...

Just curious, does anyone know who's car this is..?

I don't even recognize it from the area, and neither does my dog, but there's a high chance the person is a forum member here. I just thought I'd ask around, someone bought the parts from somewhere also, so the source for the parts could be here.

Looking for a new project at the moment, but not aggressively. I just thought I might inquire about it. If nobody knows anything about it, I'll just leave a note next time I suppose. Thanks in advance, if anyone has info.

Because if you saw the way this kit was fitted on this car, you'd agree. It's very obvious even at a quick glance at the car, that it's a fake, El-Cheapo aftermarket AMG look-a-like kit.
It's definately a fake, and the car is obviously just a normal U.S. spec. model underneath.

No problem. As I said, I'm looking for a next project, for fuel injected big block Chevy, with T-56 Six speed, and It looks like it's a perfect candidate for the project.

So, is it for sale..?

I have many original AMG parts including a complete wide-body kit, and a whole basement full of other parts, (everything new in original packages, original AMG N.O.S. parts including complete interiors and all sorts of other goodies) to complete the look I'm trying to acheive.

I do however, need a solid, sound, base to start off from. As you know, solid 126 V-8, coupes are a bit hard to find in Ct., at the moment. Currently up here visiting for a few months and hope to find one....

No, I know it isn't Paul C's car either....I know the car was being driven by a white guy...not a black guy.

I'll snap a shot of it the next time they take it out and I see it. You guys will understand what I meant when I said "EL-CHEAPO FAKE AMG BODY KIT" with a picture, it's sorta self explanatory.

Not really....It just means it was "Great", at one point in time...some still are. Depending on their condition, options, maintainance records, track record for repairs, and the amount of respect their current owner has for them at the moment. The simple fact that it's a 500SEC, is not solely what might make it "Great". The particular car I saw tonight, was "Great", a very, very, long time ago...Now it's just a candidate for custom, or restoration work, simply out of convenience, and my stubbornness to stay away from a P.O.S. Camaro or something to put my engine into. I prefer the body style of the 126 Coupe, over any American body to put my mechanical parts into.
I know I need either a 500, or 560SEC, if I want to use a 126 coupe, because of front subframe support, strength, and a few other strengthening features that the 380SEC didn't have in it.

Oh I see - If it's a nice ride, how could it be owned by the black man.

No, I said I saw the guy driving off in it, and he was white.... Did you miss that part when you "Half Read" my thread...? Do you need someone to read it to you over your shoulder, so you don't miss important stuff like that...? Do you have your spectacles on..?

I know black men with much nicer rides than this car is...DAMN, everyone twists words around. Selective hearing, selective reading.....

Incase you were wondering how I even knew you are a black man....I checked your profile...

Oh I see - Now I'm illiterate. And I suppose that's a picture of your pasty face at the bottom of the post? I really don't appreciate you trying to keep me down. And you're right, how could it be my car if it wasn't on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard?

When someone near you mentions the word "stereotype", does the word "Sony" come to mind?

Hello, Nick, long time no hear from you.

You know, I have a friend out in Las Vegas who is putting in a LT1 Vette engine into his '87 560 SEC. He has a lift in his garage (VERY tolerant wife!!) and the car has been on it for almost a year. I saw the car, it's a doable project; He is putting in rack and pinion steering in it.

It's his "Frankenbenz", and will be called his 570SEC !!!

It will happen. You should be able to do this, too, if you aren't a purist for the sake of a project like this one
