Angry Car-repair complaint leads to 10-year prison sentence for 70-year-old

http://www.recordonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081208/NEWS/81207005

HIGHLAND — Roger Malcolm, 70, was sentenced to 10 years in state prison for trying to shoot and kill a mechanic over car repairs.
Ulster County Judge J. Michael Bruhn issued the sentence last month. A jury found Malcolm guilty after a four-day trial which ended Oct. 2, according to the office of District Attorney Holley Carnright.
Malcolm was arrested July 16, 2007, by Town of Lloyd police at a Highland auto repair shop after he entered the shop with a loaded 9 mm rifle and attempted to kill the owner. He had had his 1996 Nissan repaired at the shop in January 2007 and was dissatisfied with the workmanship.

"What was that loud bang? It sounded like a rifle firing."

"Oh, that was just a consumer report, officer."

This happpened in my old backyard. If I know who he was amining at, Roger was totally justified in trying to shoot that mechanic, if only to spare others from having their cars 'serviced' by him.
Roger was also a Democratic Delagate to the last Democratic Convention. (guess he is a disgruntled gun toting Democrat)

The judge is also an interesting fellow. He is the guy who had the Green Party Mayor of New Paltz arrested for marrying gay couples. He was also impeached but survived, has pi$$ed off both the DA and PD offices and has said disparaging things about the local cops.

My friend in Kansas City told me about a home owner/contractor by his parent's house out in the country that hired a drywaller to do some work on his house.

Well when all was said and done, the owner paid the drywaller and the drywaller said- You still owe me $1100- The owner must have told him to f-off or something and turned and walked away. The drywaller pulled a gun and shot him a couple times in the back and killed him.

That is why I never try to piss people off in person...only on anonymous forums!

He sounds like quite a character! I would not want to get on his bad side.

The Harley-Davidson dealership happens to be next to the Acura Dealership...Last time I dropped the car off, as usual I walked over to the H-D dealership to check out the bikes. Some of the front windows were shot out and the floor staff was extremely tense. They stayed huddled in a corner of the showroom, they just stared at me when I came in and no one even spoke to me for the 20 mins I was there...

How in the world do people snap under such trivial circumstances?

Did you try making a sudden, jerky movement to see how many would flinch?

Many HD mechanics keep a loaded weapon within easy reach. Something about too many clients "disputing" repair bills or something...

9MM Rifle... thats a pretty large caliber for a rifle, not exactly a common rifle caliber ether.

Ether that old man has a lot better taste in guns then he does in cars...

-OR-

that reporter is stupid...

how am I suppose to respect someones reporting with a report like this...

pretty sure if it were a 9MM it was a hand gun. I can't see the old man wielding a 5 foot long old army rifle through the office of the repair shop.

This is some shoty reporting.

Not every reporter is a gun expert.

Did the drywaller get deported after the shooting?
